“We know that suffering produces perseverance;
perseverance, character;
and character, hope.
And hope does not put us to shame,
because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
Romans 5:3-5

Faces face each other mired in sorrow
Our innocence abandoned leagues behind
Nature's painful cup observed we borrow
And each will take another turn to cry
On this lonely dais we will offer
Our sacrifices in succession lay
In the stead of all the grief-less others
As our tears stream in rivulets we pray
Here wholly broken on the Rock we fall
As tides flow in and lap the roughened edge
By universals bared our minds enthralled
Oh Spirit of the ages hear our pledge
To never look indifferently on suffering
To measure every word of our response
To hold that truth is still the better mooring
And in the end to trust the Maker's love

Have you considered that suffering is part of the Christian life? Did you know that our Christian walk is not all a fairy tale dream? In life we experience suffering.
There may be persecution and trials of all kinds. These test us and produce character transforming into hope. Learning to trust God in the process is the gift of faith. God will work it out.
Pray for others that are experiencing suffering and pray that they lean into God. Jesus, comfort those experiencing suffering - May the Holy Spirit rest upon them and guide them in your truth!
