"And God said,
“Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years,
and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so.
God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night.
He also made the stars. God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures,
and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.”
Genesis 1:14-20
God caused light to shine upon us….both in the day and the night. His light shines upon us day and night. Consider the impact of not having light.
In John 1: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
Jesus is the light! The word of God lights our path, it is the energy we need to survive. His light/life is what sustains us. Without the sun, our planet would be dead. In the same way without Jesus, our lives our dead without him.
If the moon reflects the sun, can we not be like the moon and reflect Jesus in the midst of darkness?
